In summer 2020, Chris Hopkinson embarked on an unprecedented journey to paddle the entire length of the Chesapeake Bay on a stand-up paddle board. The trip spanned nine days and over 200 miles, and raised enough money to plant 18 million new oysters in the Bay. On June 17, join Chris for a live screening of "Power of the Paddle," a 26-minute documentary chronicling his voyage. After the screening, Chris will share more details about his trek and how paddlers can help the Bay today. Live Q&A to follow. Part of the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center’s 60th anniversary webinar series.

This event will be hosted entirely online, and it will be recorded! Closed captions will be available at the live event and on the recording. By signing up on Zoom, you'll be able to watch live and receive a link to the recording a few days after the event.
