Living Facilities

  • Green Village Dorm building

    The Green Village Dormitory houses most SERC interns.

  • Schmidt dorm and conference room

    The Schmidt Center is a smaller building, part-dorm, part-conference center.

  • Living room with interns

    Interns can relax after a hard day of work in the lounge. 

  • Interns cook in the kitchen

    Interns have access to full kitchens.

  • Intern_bedroom

    Dorm rooms are either single or double occupancy, and come with a dresser, desk, and twin-sized bed. 

Research Facilities

SERC boasts a 2,500 acre campus with 16 miles of connected shoreline. All SERC labs are housed in our new Mathias Lab Building which is LEED platinum certified.     The Charles Mathias laboratory is a LEED platinum facility where most intern research projects take place.

    Our Global Change Research Wetland (GCReW) is one example of a field site located on our 2,650 acre campus. 

  • Reed Education Center

    The Reed Education Center is where visitors and groups participate in activities run by our environmental education staff and interns. 

  • Dock

    Interns will work alongside scientists, some of them on boats in the Rhode River and Chesapeake Bay!
