Event Details

At heart, the term “restoration” means putting things back the way they were. But with a warming climate and growing human footprint, is it possible or even advisable to restore ecosystems to former conditions? Susan will discuss her work to understand how biodiversity is changing and what the consequences of those changes are, and then describe her efforts to integrate ecological information into restoration and land management decisions. She will be presenting her work, but also hopes to have a spirited dialogue around what restoration means in an era of change.

SERC science seminars during the day feature the work of SERC scientists and guest speakers. They are held in the Schmidt Conference Center, and are directed primarily towards a scientific audience. A short Q & A follows each seminar.
