Information Desk
Welcome to the Woodlawn History Center. You are standing next to the information desk. To your left is the building’s main entrance and exit. To your right is the exhibition’s introduction panel. Behind you is a hands-on archaeology dig interactive and the restrooms.
Throughout the exhibition, you will find raised QR codes located on the lower left-hand corner of graphic panels, reader rails, and artifact cases. Scan the QR codes with your device to access verbal descriptions and interpretive text.
The sign on the information desk in front of you includes braille text and a tactile floor plan of the exhibition. You are in section one: Introduction and First Peoples. There are five other sections to the exhibition, which run counterclockwise around the building: Section two: Colonial Life; section three: Who Lived in This House?; section four: A New Nation; section five: From Emancipation to Jim Crow; and section six: SERC’s Story.
While you are in section one of the exhibition, don’t miss the hands-on archaeology dig interactive, located at the center of the gallery, behind you, and the tactile 3D model of Woodlawn House, located on the far side of the information desk, in front of you.
We hope you enjoy your visit. Please let a member of staff know if we can assist you in any way.
