Academic Background
Ph.D. Physical Geography, University of Toronto, 2016; M.S. Mathematics, King's College London, 2012; M.S. Earth Sciences, University of New Hampshire, 2011; B.A. Environmental Science, Mount Holyoke College, 2009
Research Interests
My research expertise falls at the intersection of biogeochemistry, soil microbial ecology, and environmental change and spans across landscapes from upland forests to wetland ecosystems. A mechanistic understanding of ecosystem linkages, processes, and dynamic feedbacks is required to advance the field of environmental science, including accurate informing of models and strengthening of recommendations for environmental management. The overarching goal of my current and future research program is to understand these mechanistic relationships, which I accomplish through both long-term field experiments and smaller controlled lab studies, and by relying on novel environmental genomics and bioinformatics approaches coupled with more classical tools for characterizing biogeochemical cycling, including isotopic analysis.
