Learn about the importance of marshes with the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC)! Marshes are important habitats that help to keep the Chesapeake Bay clean and healthy. Since we can’t all go to a real marsh today, we’re going to make a model of one to help understand how they help keep Chesapeake Bay healthy! We will be conducting some hands-on activities that you can follow along at home! You'll also have a chance to talk to a scientist who studies marshes, a biological illustrator, and see some of the labs and marsh sites where they do research!
All necessary materials for this program will be provided at no cost. Pick up a kit at your nearest Anne Arundel County Public Library beginning January 8th (while supplies last).

¡Aprenda sobre la importancia de las marismas con el Centro de Investigación Ambiental Smithsonian (SERC)! Los pantanos son hábitats importantes que ayudan a mantener la bahía de Chesapeake limpia y saludable. Como hoy no podemos ir todos a un pantano real, vamos a hacer un modelo para ayudar a comprender cómo ayudan a mantener saludable la bahía de Chesapeake. ¡Realizaremos algunas actividades prácticas que puede seguir en casa! ¡También tendrás la oportunidad de hablar con un científico que estudia las marismas, un ilustrador biológico y ver algunos de los laboratorios y sitios de las marismas donde investigan!
