I joined SERC in May 2023 as the Citizen Science Coordinator and am responsible for developing and coordinating SERC’s citizen science programs. In this context, “citizen science” refers to the SERC programs in which the public is invited to volunteer and engage in the scientific process with researchers. By collaborating with educators, volunteers, interns, students, and researchers I support SERC’s mission to create knowledge that ultimately helps us meet today’s pressing environmental challenges.
I’m passionate about engaging the public in science, especially with a diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice lens because the urgent environmental issues that SERC seeks to address are disproportionately affecting marginalized, Black, and Indigenous communities.
