I began my career with the Smithsonian in 2006 after spending 18+ years as a researcher with the University of Maryland, Center for Environmental Science located at Horn Point Laboratory in Cambridge, MD. This former position enabled me to visit most of the world’s oceans as well as the Antarctic as part of four research teams. Whereupon, I moved into administration as Fellowship Coordinator with the non-profit, Chesapeake Research Consortium overseeing their Fellowship program with the Chesapeake Bay Program in Annapolis. At the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC), I administer to Fellows, Interns, and Volunteers who are assisting with our research projects and education programs. I am involved in the recruitment, appointment and orientation process, as well as organize activities for each of these administrative groups at our Edgewater campus.
