| abstract | The locations of all birds seen or heard during a census were marked on a map. Censuses were conducted along 10 lanes, 50 m apart through a 15 ha section of mature upland forest that was dominated by Quercus, Fagus, and Liriodendron. The censuses were conducted mainly in the morning hours between 0600 and 1100 during June and July of 1983, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1995. |
| additional documentation / reference article | The file census2.xls on the floppy disk contains a summary of the number of breeding territories of each species that were present each summer. The maps from the censuses indicate the precise location of the territories and some information on their behavior during the observation. |
