Animal-Plant Interactions in Mangrove Ecosystems
For my summer research project at SERC I compared nitrogen:carbon ratios between organisms of various trophic levels living in fringing dwarf mangrove stands from Turneffe Atoll in Belize and Indian River Lagoon in Florida. This information gives us insight into the way organisms in nitrogen-limited Florida stands and phosphorus-limited Belize stands take advantage of available nutrients and how each organism plays into the ecological stoichiometry of the community.
