Vera Junge - Environmental Education
Lesley University, Cambridge, MA
This summer at SERC I worked extensively on curriculum development for the SERC summer camps. The materials focused mainly on wetlands, ecology of the region, and the work scientists do at SERC. They were directed toward the 3rd-6th grade age groups, and were collected in the Education files for use by future interns and camp leaders. I was also in charge of leading two of the four summer camps, and assisting with the other two. In the future I hope to continue in the education field, teaching either Science or English in the classroom.
“Doing an internship in SERC Education has helped me develop the skills I need to write lesson plans, work with other educators, and be a confident leader with any age-group. The educators here are amazing, and it was an all around excellent experience.”
