Tera Levin - Biogeochemistry Lab
Oberlin College, OH
My research focued on quantifying the type and amount of respiration by microorganisms and different depths in a marsh soil profile. Specifically, I was trying to see if methanogens ever became the dominant community. I did soil incubations, gas sampling, and gas chromatography, followed up by much statistical analysis. I learned a lot about anaerobic soil ecology, as well as about biogeochemistry in general. After I graduate, I hope to travel abroad and continue to do biological and biochemical research before going off to grad school.
