Martha Bademan - Fish and Invertebrate Lab
Wake Forest University, NC
During my summer internship at SERC, I worked in the notorious crablab. At least part of my typical day was spent out on the Rhode River seining, pulling tows, or trawling for blue crabs for a number of studies. For my intern project, I studied predation rates of hatchery-raised juvenile blue crabs. I compared predation rates of hatchery and wild crabs, as well as predation rates at different release densities, release sites, and habitats. After graduation, I plan on attending graduate school in marine ecology.
