Position Available - Electromechanical Technician - Solar Radiation Monitoring, FT or PT
This is NOT a federal position.
The technician will assist in the design and maintenance of instruments used for solar ultraviolet radiation research and monitoring. The technician performs electronic and mechanical procedures on laboratory equipment, primarily radiometers, to carry out fabrication, repairs or modifications as directed by supervisor and staff electronic engineer. Includes soldering of components to printed circuit boards using high reliability techniques, fabricating cable assemblies and assembly of component modules. Addition duties include: Performing test procedures and writing documentation, mechanical procedures include instrument assembly and mechanical alignment/adjustment. We will consider applicants interested in either full-time work or part-time work covering a portion of these duties.
Minimum requirements (FT) is an AAS degree with additional experience preferred. Position is available immediately. Applicants should be able to read and interpret electronic schematics and mechanical assembly drawings, use electronic test equipment such as VOMs, O'scopes, DMMs, etc. for troubleshooting and alignment, power tools such as Mill-Drill-Lathe, and carefully follow verbal and written instructions. CAD experience is a plus. Students with relevant experience in one or more of these categories can be considered for PT positions. Applicant should be able to work independently or as part of a team. Salary (FT) will start at $30,000-$37,000 per annum (depending on qualifications) plus benefits. PT salary will depend on qualifications. Initial appointment is for one year and renewal is contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued availability of funds.
