Eucampia groenlandica

This is a rare visitor to the southern regions of the Chesapeake Bay. It prefers colder waters. It was collected in St. Mary's River during November 2002. It is thought to be primarily oceanic. The high salinities during 2001-02 brought many rare species into bay waters. Length of apical axis ranges from 30 to 97 microns.
