This sample collected from plankton tow at the mouth of the Rhode River in the Chesapeake Bay in October 2002. Salinities were above average for the area measuring 17ppt. The valve view was determined to be Ditylum based on number of Ditylum cells in the sample and Hendey's text. (See Taxonomic References)  Size 41.1µ diameter, 127µ long, total volume 1.7 x105 cubic microns.
