Chaetoceros difficile (Cleve)

Cell valve diameter is 7µ - 15µ. Chains appear loose and pliable with weakly siliceous wall. Setae project at nearly right angles to the chain of cells. North temperate species. Cells reported off California and Britain. It appears in colder months in the Rhode River, Chesapeake Bay.
