Agmenellum quadruplicatum

This species comes from the Cyannobacteria, or blue-green algae, family. The characteristic form is easily spotted with a microscope and can be seen with the naked eye in large colonies. Each cell is approximately 4 to 5µ in diameter, 4 to 8µ long. It can be seen in freshwater as well as brackish. Photo by Siva Sankar.
