Kofoidinium velleloides

This species has a very complex life cycle with immature stages that resemble Gymnodinium, Noctiluca and Amphidinium species. In the right example K. velloides measures 100-300u wide, it is transparent and biflagellate. It is cosmopolitan in coastal and open water in temperate and tropical seas.
